Download mirrors for KompoZer, anyone?

Since SourceForge.net has changed its File Release System, it's much easier to publish a bunch of binaries for each KompoZer release. Unfortunately, it's become pretty buggy and we’re getting more and more reports from users who couldn’t download files from there. Even worse: most of the negative reviews on SF.net are about the erratic download service.
I can't blame SF.net: they offer a free service and KompoZer couldn't have existed without SF.net in the first place. But now that the project is taking a good shape, we’d like to get a better download service, and it looks like it won’t be possible with SourceForge, unfortunately. So we’re thinking of hosting the binaries on our own mirrors.
According to the SF.net download stats, the required bandwidth is currently about 60 GB a day — and we expect it to be much more when the final 0.8 version is released.
Our hosting’s bandwidth is only 500GB/month and we can't afford to buy more. We’d need roughly another 1.5TB/month for the 6,000 daily downloads, and probably twice as much when the final 0.8 is released. The idea would be to have several mirrors, each offering 0.5TB/month or more.
Please drop me a comment if you can offer some bandwidth. Thanks!

We can host the danish versions on mozilladanmark.dk, if that can be any help.
Might I suggest asking the OSU OSL? They offer mirroring and other services to FOSS projects.
The mozdev mirrors may be able to help too.
what about codeplex. it's similiar to sourceforge :)
Got something against Bittorrent?
Yeah, i think torrent is the cheapest and most reliable solution.
Unfortunately i can only offer 200GB/Month, or setup a torrent tracker for kompozer.
Unless there's no other alternative, we won't leave SF.net to put the binary files on an equivalent website: we’re rather looking for a KompoZer-centric (or Mozilla-centric) community hosting. I confess I hadn't thought of MozDev, shame on me…
And no, Bittorrent would not be useful here: we need a simple, one-click download solution for KompoZer users. I don't know exactly what the problem is on the SourceForge side (it’s always “worked for me”), but I suspect it’s more a matter of user interface rather than a hosting problem.
I have only 10 GB/month and i can offer 5 GB/month for Kompozer: too little. Sorry.
Perhaps you could get an account on www.servage.net, or similar type of host... We are talking 7.5TB of bandwidth/month, for like 10 bucks.
[Nope, don't have any affiliation with them.]
I still think bittorrent is a good alternative for the more experiences users. That will probably save a lot of bandwidth for the "one-click" download links.
Kazé, a torrent would be excellent for this. There's no reason that you shouldn't list a torrent as well, to subsidize your conventional HTTP downloads. Also, note that for many Linux users, a torrent qualifies as a "simple, one-click download solution" by default. This says nothing of users on Mac and Windows alike who are already heavy torrent users. I think you really underestimate the numbers here.
By the way, this is coming from someone who torrents zero to maybe three times a month, so it's not that I'm not campaigning for you to use my file distribution method of choic for my own benefit, but given the option of an HTTP download and a torrent with sufficient seeders, I opt for the torrent to alleviate the load.
Oops. That "it's not that I'm not campaigning" should read "it's not that I'm campaigning".
Colby > GNU/Linux users are not a problem for two reasons: they represent about 10% of the downloads, and most of them already have KompoZer in their repositories.
I’ve already thought of using torrents before, and I’ve had the opportunity to discuss this with people who had similar projects and similar issues. I think it’s a nice solution for heavy files with a high geek factor (e.g. GNU/Linux distros) but I don’t believe it would be suitable for KompoZer:
We’re speaking of 10MB binaries, 6,000 downloads a day, 2TB a month: that’s not such a big deal. Worst case, we’ll keep SourceForge and cope with the bugs, that would still make much less support requests than using torrents.
I would like to volunteer to host and maintain the italian site and act as a mirror, but the domain kompozer.it is already assigned.
@ Giuseppe
hai provato a contattare il proprietario di kompozer.it? ho visto che linka esclusivamente siti del progetto. Forse ha intenzione di cedere il dominio o a collaborare.
My host allows unlimited traffic on my Kompozer domain.
You can get what you need.
Giuseppe > we’re not looking for a public, localized version of kompozer.net — we’re just looking for a place to store files. The domain name wouldn’t matter at all: these files would be served by kompozer.net, they wouldn’t even be visible to your visitors.
Of course, it’d be fine if you could have a KompoZer-dedicated website in Italian on kompozer.it (like Frederik has with kompozer.nl, for example), but that’s not related to our current bandwidth issue.
Frederik > *unlimited* bandwidth, are you sure? That'd be great!
Yes, I'm sure. Unlimited means FUP
look at here (my Host): https://www.gethost.nl/pakketten.ph...
I think that a high usage of traffic is not a problem.
I think, Google Sites could do it at least for the Windows version:
http://sites.google.com/site/kompoz...
Or for the 0.7.10 version:
http://sites.google.com/site/kompoz...
i can make a website and a domain for you i want to host for you!
I think you should try mozdev like someone else said that is like one of there main goals is it not
I am willing to host Kompozer on my domain. I am hosting KeeForm (sf.net project) on my domain as well. Please let me know what to do. I have unlimited space and transfer.
How about Dotsrc.org Open Source Hosting, they provide a mirrors service http://mirrors.dotsrc.org . In Ireland, HEAnet, our national education network will provide software mirroring service for FLOSS software. They are already the Irish mirror for SourceForge and Canonical, http://www.heanet.ie/services/housi...
I would be willing to donate 500GB a month on one of our servers as we use your software on a regular basis :) Get back to me if you're interested
FUP = Fair Use Policy
This is not the same as "unlimited":
http://www.shopadsl.nl/faq/3_adsl-b...
I can offer up to 10GB a month if you are interested.. e-mail me if you want it.
@ Harry
In my domain I offer 10 GIG a month. Need KompoZer more? NP.
I meant to say reply here if you want my 10GB of bandwidth. I think if you took the offer of 500GB and some of the smaller offers then you should have enough bandwidth for a while.
hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
I can create Russian mirror on filesharing hosting narod.ru. But users will have to enter captcha
Your download problems are caused by a wrong link on your page. You linked the download button with
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ko...
but the right link to the zip file is
http://sourceforge.net/projects/kom...
You forgot the ".10" after the "current/0.7"
I can offer 2TB for you on a monthy basis. Just email me and let me know
Contact this site http://www.filehippo.com/. Maybe they will accept Kompozer and put it on their list.
Doesn't Mozilla Foundation/Corporation want to accept it?
Are you still looking for mirrors? I could provide you access to my SimpleCDN account, which would essentially give you very fast direct link access throughout the world to your files. If you are interested, please let me know and we'll work something out. :-)
The OSU OSF idea is good...
Also, http://www.siteground.com/ offer NO BANDWIDTH limits for about $100/year.
I don't mind mirroring on one of my domains there. I have several, so I could spread the load some.
I can donate about 100 GB/month for Kompozer. I prefer to host the catalan and spanish version if possible.
Hello. I wouldn't mind hosting any number of releases for you guys. I have virtually unlimited bandwidth, and am willing to host all languages and locales.
I can set up FTP access for you, to a directory like:
http://kirashi.ca/mirrors/kompozer
OR
http://kirashi.ca/distro/kompozer
Message me back if you need this space. Don't worry about money, I don't pay any more for offering this to you.
Hi,
I can offer two seperate sites with 100GB each if you still require hosting.
I can offer you 5TB per Month. Would be cool to hear from you. Thank and have a good Day.
I have 1800GB/mo but it's on a shared server in the states. Downloads might not be blazing but I sure could take some load off you're hands.
I also have rsync/ssh scripts that could keep my server mirrored with your download server (maybe every 4-6 hours)?
E-mail me so we can talk more :)
